Theresa Mulcahy is an Assistant Professor in Accounting and Programme Director for the BA(Hons) Accounting and Finance degree at National College of Ireland. Theresa is a graduate of Queens University Belfast where she obtained her BSc in Accounting. She then went on to Dublin City University where she obtained an MBS in Accounting. Prior to returning to academia Theresa completed her professional accountancy training with PricewaterhouseCoopers and completed her final admitting examinations with the Chartered Accountants Ireland in 2011. Theresa worked in PricewaterhouseCoopers up to Manager level in Audit Services and then took up the role of Finance Business Partner with Electric Ireland in 2014. Theresa first joined National College of Ireland in 2011 as associate faculty teaching financial accounting, management accounting and financial management. Theresa took up her full time role with National College of Ireland in 2017. Theresa’s main research interests include capital structure and family firms and has presented her Ph.D proposal at the Irish Accounting and Finance Annual Conference Doctoral Consortium in University of Limerick in May 2018. Theresa has registered for her Ph.D in Waterford Institute of Technology commencing October 2018.
