International Women's Day (IWD) at NCI

Celebrating the voices, achievements, and experiences of the incredible women who shape National College of Ireland this International Women’s Day, 8th March. Hear from our staff members as they share what IWD means to them and how they continue to inspire change every day

The UN’s theme for IWD in 2025 is For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment. This aligns with goal five of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which is to Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

This year’s UN theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all, and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation, particularly young women, and adolescent girls, as catalysts for lasting change.

Here in NCI, the EDI and HR team want to celebrate just some of the women who work and study in our institution, whose experiences are diverse, and challenges are unique, but also often universal. We asked some women in our community about their roles in NCI, the path they have taken, their inspirations, motivations and what International Women’s Day means to them.
