At NCI, we believe that sustainability must be something that runs through all our operations. It plays a key role in our teaching, research, and business decisions. Sustainability unites us as a college. It requires a unified approach that involves management, faculty, support services, facilities, external stakeholders, and most importantly full-time and part-time students.
Education for Sustainable Development
Our commitment to embedding sustainability across our portfolio of programmes at NCI is a response to the demand from our students to learn more about how they can have a positive impact in the world. One of our objectives under the NCI Strategic Plan 2022-2027 is “To develop successful graduates that have a lifelong love of learning, who are valued contributors to the workforce and society, and who are committed to sustainability”.
At NCI, we include the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our Programmes, encouraging students to consider the ethical application of their knowledge, and to apply their cutting edge expertise to address the SDGs.

Department of Social Protection
All DSP suite programmes are bespoke and have been designed with Sustainability in mind. SDG 12 Practical applications such as Moodle and Teams reduce the need for wasteful printing, bended learning helps reduce stakeholder carbon foot print through reduced travel and the commitment to blended assessment facilitates sustainable practice. The current moratorium on the use of AI in DSP assessment also provides a unique reduction in water usage in line with best practice helping achieve SDG 4 Quality Education via SDG 12 sustainable business practice.
Each DSP Programme Moodle page has a mapped link to learning outcomes and mappable SDG content traced live in workshops sessions throughout each programme delivery and framed during Reflective Practice on completion of each programme. By aligning core documents and learning with the SDGs, this raises awareness and ownership of potential change.
