National College of Ireland, Mayor Square, Tuesday 5th November, 10am-12pm

  • If you have not voted before.

  • If you have moved recently or, for any other reason, you’re not sure if you’re registered to vote.

Join USI, NCISU and ELI home visitors, who will be available to help you

  • Check the Register.
  • Register online if you have a PPS number.
  • If you don’t have a PPS number, help you complete a hard copy form and let you know what supporting documentation is needed.

For students, thanks to USI, there will be a chance to 'spin the wheel' and win prizes, as you also register to exercise your democratic franchise, and learn how PR-STV works (Proportional Representation - Single Transfer Vote).

NCI is delighted to welcome all who live in the surrounding communities of NEIC, NIC and SEA, as well as those working in the IFSC, who want to ensure they are registered to vote.

While a general election has not yet been called, rumours persist of a November date. It takes approximately 15 working days for voter registration to be processed, to ensure you are on the electoral roll and will receive a polling card.

NCISU is taking a 'better safe than sorry' approach and starting early to encourage students to register to vote. The next general election must be held no later than 22nd March 2025, as "the same Dáil shall not continue for a longer period than five years from the date of its first meeting", according to electoral law. Registering now gives you time to catch up on who's who in your local constitutency so you can make an informed decision as to who will best represent your priorities in the next Dáil.

Only citizens of Ireland and British citizens ordinarily resident in Ireland can vote in General Elections.

All people resident in Ireland, even if you are not a citizen, can vote in Local Elections, and all EU citizens, even if you are not an Irish citizen, can vote in European Elections. The next local and EU elections are not likely to happen before 2029, but if you are planning on being resident in Ireland for a number of years, you are more than welcome to register to vote now.
