National College of Ireland is pleased to announce that it now holds an Erasmus Charter of Higher Education 2021-2027.
NCI’s successful submission was led by Olivia Moss, Director of International, who said:
“An Erasmus exchange offers so many new opportunities to students, to travel, experience different cultures, learn new languages, question their own perspectives and make friends from around the world.
“I personally went on an Erasmus exchange to France whilst at university and it changed my entire outlook on life. I credit that Erasmus experience with making me the person that I am today. I still keep in touch with friends that I met there from USA, Germany, Thailand and Singapore. I want all NCI students to have that opportunity to gain new perspectives, find out new things about themselves and to make lifelong friends.”
Staff will also be able to take advantage of the programme. Professor Jimmy Hill, Vice President Research and Academic Affairs said:
“Access is always a priority at NCI, so we are particularly delighted that students in receipt of a SUSI grant may take the chance of studying overseas while continuing to receive their maintenance payments. For academics, the opportunity to experience other institutions and potentially build international collaborations is extremely valuable. As a potential host institute to students and lecturers from other countries, Erasmus+ allows National College of Ireland opens up a genuine exchange of international experience and cultural diversity.”
With applications opening in September 2022, the College expects to see its first cohort of students to avail of the Erasmus Programme travel overseas in January 2023.
Over 6 million students have taken part in the Erasmus Programme since it was established in 1987, providing free movement and education exchange between registered universities and institutions for eligible students, with the European Credit Transfer System ensuring that credits earned abroad count towards your home-institute qualification.
