National College of Ireland condemns the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. As a community we are shocked and saddened by the violence visited on the people of Ukraine. We feel sincere sympathy for all the victims of this terrible war and hope for a swift and peaceful resolution. We recognise that many Russian people do not support this war.
NCI holds, at its core, values such as community, integrity, inclusivity, and respect for all; it is important that we now act on these values. The College wants to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, and to provide a safe route for our staff and students to contribute, knowing that their gift will go directly to where it will do most good.
NCI has established a Just Giving charity page* to donate to the Irish Red Cross working in Ukraine. Currently, Red Cross teams are on the ground in Ukraine supporting health facilities, providing people with food and other lifesaving assistance. Any money raised will go directly to the Red Cross in Ukraine.
NCI is conscious that students or staff members may be directly impacted by this conflict or may be more generally affected by the disturbing news and possible wider consequences. If you need support, it is available through the Employee Assistance Programme for staff and through the student counselling team for students. Please do reach out if you require some help.
NCI has always supported vulnerable people at home and abroad. If you would like to be part of NCI’s fundraising efforts for Ukraine, DONATE now!*
