At National College of Ireland, we have developed a comprehensive range of initiatives to recognise and reward outstanding student performances.

Dean’s/Director’s Honour List

School of Business, School of Computing and Centre for Education and Lifelong Learning

The Dean’s Honour List seeks to honour those award year students who have performed to an exceptional level throughout the academic year. Open to all Award Year students who have achieved an average overall grade of 70% or more on major award programmes of 60 credits or more. The Dean’s Honour list will be published on the NCI website twice each year following Spring and Winter Graduations. Recipients will receive a letter confirming their placement on the Dean’s Honour List.

Academic Honour Roll

School of Business, School of Computing and Centre for Education and Lifelong Learning

The Academic Honour Roll seeks to honour those progressing students who have performed to an exceptional level throughout the academic year who have progressed to the next stage of their programme. Open to all non-award year students and students who have completed minor awards of 30 credits or more. who have achieved an average overall grade of 70% or more. Students will receive a letter confirming their placement on the school (Business/Computing/CELL) Academic Honour Roll.

NCI Academic Excellence Awards

Award certificates to be sent to recipients following Winter Graduation ceremony each year to include the following awards.

Highest Achiever Awards

Highest Achieving student from all programmes on the Spring and Winter Dean’s Honour lists awarded with Highest Achiever Certificate.

School of Business Postgraduate Dissertation Awards

Best in Programme Award
Awarded to students who are deemed to have completed the best dissertation on a postgraduate programme: 

  • Best Dissertation in Finance Award - the highest grade achieved in Dissertation module
  • Best Dissertation in International Business Award - the highest grade achieved in Dissertation module
  • Best Dissertation in Human Resource Management Award - the highest grade achieved in Dissertation module
  • Best Dissertation in Business Administration Award - the highest grade achieved in Dissertation module
  • Best Dissertation in Management Award - the highest grade achieved in Dissertation module

School of Business Best Overall Dissertation Award
This is awarded to one student who is deemed to have completed the best overall dissertation across all School of Business Programmes.

School of Computing Awards

Best in Programme Awards
Awarded to students who are deemed to have completed the best Research Project on a postgraduate programme:

  • Best Research Project in Data Analytics Award - the highest grade achieved in Research Project module
  • Best Research Project in Cloud Computing Award - the highest grade achieved in Research Project module
  • Best Research Project in Fintech Award - the highest grade achieved in Research Project module
  • Best Internship in Cybersecurity Award - the highest grade achieved in Research Project module

NCI Kathleen McNulty Award 
This award is offered to a female student to recognise the most outstanding MSc Research Project result in the Computing area (across the four MSc domain programmes).

Software Project Awards
Awarded to students who are deemed to have completed the best Software Project on an undergraduate programme:

  • Best Project on the BSc (Hons) in Computing Full-time – the best Software Project across all specialisations on the BSc (Hons) in Computing
  • Best Project on the BSc (Hons) in Computing Part-time – the best Software Project across all specialisations on the BSc (Hons) in Computing Part-time programme
  • Best Project on the BSc (Hons) in Technology Management – the best Software Project on the BSc (Hons) in Technology Management
  • Best Project on the BSc (Hons) in Business Information Systems – the best Software Project on the BSc (Hons) in Business Information Systems
  • Best Overall Project Showcase Award – Best overall Software Project across all undergraduate programmes

NCI Ada Lovelace Award
This is awarded to a female student to recognise the most outstanding Software Project result in the Computing area (across all undergraduate programmes).

Centre for Education & Lifelong Learning Dissertation & Practicum Awards

Best Dissertation Award
Awarded to the student who is deemed to have completed the best Dissertation on the Master of Arts in Educational Practice programme

Most Successful Practicum Award
Awarded to the student who is deemed to have completed the Most Successful Practicum on the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts in Educational Practice programme.
