Funding for Students with Disabilities

National College of Ireland is committed to providing equal access to education and equal opportunities for students with disabilities.

The College encourages students to be open about their disability and to discuss their individual needs with the Disability Officer. It is very important that students disclose a disability early in the academic year to ensure that necessary supports are provided. By delaying disclosure of a disability, students may be missing out on essential supports which can help with everything from participation in lectures right through to sitting exams.

The Third Level Access Activity is funded by the Irish Government and part funded by the European Social Fund under the Human Capital Investment Operational Programme 2007 – 2013.

For financial disability support AHEAD is an all-Ireland organisation whose central mission is to promote the full participation of students with disabilities in every aspect of higher education. A guide to grants, Scholarships and Disability Benefits for Third-Level Students with Disabilities in Ireland is available directly from them.
